PPP Settings on a stock Player

Many people are simply using he webplayer as is, with their own ISPs. If this sounds like a good, easy solution, here's how to do it. This procedure is really very easy, but it helps to have an internet connection handy to crack the password.

• Power up. When the OS loads, and you get to the login screen, press ctrl-F2 (ctrl-Music).
• At the password page, simply use this page or this page to get the correct password. Or, you can download it instead, but the download only claims 60% accuracy... If you fail to get the password, just try again. No penalties.
• OK, you're in. Now here's the settings you need. Be sure not to change anything else. NEVER click revert to factory settings. (You are warned. ;))

1. PPP File Settings
   1. login - ISP login username
   2. pap_user_name - same
   3. Click Apply (maybe twice....)
2. Dialup Settings
   1. modem.local.dial.number - the phone number of your ISP
   2. modem.local.phone.number - same
   3. secretsfile.secret - your login password for your ISP
   4. Apply
3. Network Settings
   1. domainname - for your ISP. Such as, 'nocharge.com'
   2. primaryDNS - If not known, look this up from you ISP.
   3. secondaryDNS - ditto
   4. Apply
4. User Settings
   1. displayname - Whatever you want I assume.... Otherwise, use ISP login username
   2. emailid - ISP login username
   3. local userid - same
   4. userid - same
   5. local password - your login password for your ISP
   6. password - your login password for your ISP
   7. Apply

That's about it. I haven't seen anything about changing the home page yet. Let me know.
